Anyone have any thoughts to share after this years tourney?  It seems to me that the co-anglers were somewhat slighted. I had a  brother, a nephew and an uncle that were all in the top 25 teams after day two and only one of them got to fish the last day. Turns out that co-angler weights mean nothing and count for nothing. They kept track of the co-anglers weights for day one and day two and then just through it all out the window.  IMO there will have to be some changes made if they want to fill the co-angler side of the tourney in the future. Dont get me wrong, for $250.00 to fish with a pro for two days and have a fifty percent chance of a third day isnt that bad of a deal, But I still think if you are tournament fishing, you should have something to gain by doing well.

Didn't  all co-anglers get some nice prizes too?   So it really is just a cheap fishing camp.  $150 (minus prizes)  to fish with a pro for 2 possible 3 days.  You might spend that just going by yourself.   Maybe not that much ,but if you burn a lot of gas, like the pros did, it could be more.   Plus I think there is a waiting list for co-anglers, so why would they change it.

Rowdie, thats $250.00 not $150.00, minus  a bag of jigs or two. Im not saying that it wouldnt be worth the money for some people, but I think they are eliminating the amatures that are starting to get into competitive fishing. It was one of those years that the coanglers didnt learn much besides what an extra fuel cell strapped to a boat looks like.

Rowdie, nice to see that anybody actually cares about proffesional walleye fishing tournaments in SD anyway, took a long time to get a response from anybody. I was surprised that I had to start a post on this subject to get something started on a hunting and fishing website.

I thought the co-anglers got some lake chip maps and other prizes worth about $100, thats why I said $150.  Still,  $250 for a two day fishing clinic with a pro might be worth it to a lot of people.  you're going to spend over $50 fishing 2 days anyway.  There must be a lot of people who feel the same way, I heard there was a waiting list for co-anglers.

Sorry, I really don't care much for tournaments, pro or otherwise.  I use them for an accurate fishing report, thats about it.  What interested me about this one was the CRR format, so I read some threads about AIM on walleyecentral.   Thats where I heard about the co-anglers prizes.   I didn't even know the PWT folded.  I heard about the CRR format while reading the Mobridge Tribune, and then learned about AIM.

IntoC,  I was at the final weigh in and it sounded like running south of Gettysburg was the winning tactic. Bottom bouncers, slow death rigs. Nothing special. Add on fuel cell was a must. I personally would have liked to see a boundary at about the HWY 212 bridge. If the pros would have been forced to fish somewheres close to the Akaska area where fishing is tougher right now, maybe there would have been something to learn from the whole thing. The pros all really talked up the new CPR format, sounds like it is the future of walleye tourneys.
